Meditation
18. Higher Power.
"We are each channels of thought that a great
power operates through. The more we let this creative power work through
us the more our consciousness attracts all good. We cannot coerce it;
yet learning to love ourselves and others unconditionally, we become an
increasingly clear channel for this higher power to work through
us."
The more I start my day with meditation, the more I
sense this power that is there for me. It is like a force that slows me
down to resonate with its infinite intelligence. I then get a glimpse of
this higher power. |
We rush to harness electricity, convert
wind power, trap steam and use technology, yet with quiet simple
meditation there is infinite power to tap residing within us.
Affirm with passion:
I now accept and become open to a power that has my highest good at the
centre of its intention. I find deeply fulfilling ways to improve my life
and I attract people who are in harmony with me. They accept me and we
help each other from our higher power. And so it is.
When any part of your life is not working, create a positive, present
tense affirmation.

places in hell are reserved for those who, in times of moral
crisis, maintain their neutrality".

Talk
To Your Inner Child . . .
Close your eyes and imagine yourself as a
child of five or six. How does the child feel? What does the child need?
What comforting and encouraging words from you does the child need to
hear? Your consciousness carries all the positive and negative memories
from your childhood. There isn't really one "inner child." There
are numerous experiences that shaped your ideas about yourself and all of
life from every age that are still a part of your conscious and
unconscious minds. The inner child exercise and others are designed to
help you remember more of the unconscious beliefs that are limiting you.
Workshops are often an excellent way to do healing work with the inner
child.

Remember affirmations work on you telling the subconscious mind with an
emotional charge what you would like to experience in reality. Remember
your subconscious mind cannot take a joke.
Goodies
The theme of this Soul Talk News is that our flaws can be a blessing to
others. This came from my internet soul friend Christian Godfrey:
A water bearer in India had two large pots, each hung on each end of a
pole, which he carried across his neck.
One of the pots had a crack in it, and while the other pot was perfect and
always delivered a full portion of water at the end of the long walk from
the stream to the master's house, the cracked pot arrived only half full.
For a full 2 years this went on daily, with the bearer delivering only one
and a half pots full of water in his master's house.
Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments, perfect to
the end for which it was made.
But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and
miserable that it was able to accomplish only half of what it had been
made to do.
After 2 years of what it perceived to be a bitter failure, it spoke to the
water bearer one day by the stream. "I am ashamed of myself, and I
want to apologize to you."
"Why?" asked the bearer. "What are you ashamed of?"
"I have been able, for these past two years, to deliver only half my
load because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way
back to your master's house. Because of my flaws, you have to do all of
this work, and you don't get full value from your efforts," the pot
said.
The water bearer felt sorry for the old cracked pot, and in his compassion
he said, "As we return to the master's house, I want you to notice
the beautiful flowers along the path."
Indeed as they went up the hill, the old cracked pot took notice of the
sun warming the beautiful wild flowers on the side of the path and this
cheered it some. But at the end of tile trail, it still felt bad because
it had leaked out half its load, and so again it apologized to the bearer
for its failure.
The bearer said to the pot, "Did you notice that there were flowers
only on YOUR side of your path, but not on the other pot's side? That's
because I have always known about your flaw, and I took advantage of it. I
planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk
back from the stream, you've watered them.
For 2 years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate
my master's table. Without you being just the way you are, he would not
have this beauty to grace his house."
Moral: Each of us has our own unique flaws. We're all cracked pots. Some
of us don't grow old gracefully, some are not so smart, some are tall,
large & big, some bald, some physically challenged, but it's the
cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives together so very
interesting and rewarding.
You've just got to take each person for what they are, and look for the
good in them. There is a lot of good out there. There is a lot of good in
you, Roger!
Blessed are the flexible for they shall not be bent out of shape. Remember
to appreciate all the different people in your life! Or as I like to think
of it - If it's not for the crackpots in my life, it would be pretty
boring.
Thank you for being my crackpot friend, Roger.
"So how do you love yourself? First of all and most important:
Cease all criticism of yourself and others. Accept yourself as
you are. When you approve of yourself, your changes become
positive. Everyone in your world is a reflection of your beliefs.
Don't blame others; change your beliefs. Be gentle, kind and
patient with yourself. Praise yourself as much as you can."
-- Louise L. Hay
"The man is happy, we say, who knows no good that would be
greater than that which he can give to himself".
-- Seneca
"Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what
peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without
surrender, be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to
others, even to the dull and ignorant; they too have their
story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexations
to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may
become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and
lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep
interested in your own career, however humble; it's a real
possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world
is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what
virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and
everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither
be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and
disenchantment, it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering
the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you
in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark
imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and
the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not
it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive him
to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the
noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still
a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy."
"Desiderata" was written in 1927 by Max Ehrmann (1872-1945).

From
London to Milford Haven
Q: Without using a
calculator, figure this --- You are driving a bus from London to Milford
Haven in Wales. In London, 17 people get on the bus. In Reading, six
people get off the bus and nine people get on. In Swindon, two people get
off and four get on. In Cardiff, 11 people get off and 16 people get on.
In Swansea, three people get off and five people get on. In Carmathen, six
people get off and three get on. You then arrive at Milford Haven. Now,
what was the name of the bus driver?
